At the end of last week, I saw a news article in the Philippine Inquirer that Metro Manila and the surrounding provinces had been classified as "moderate risk" for Covid-19. This basically means that cases had significantly dropped and hospital beds were not in a critical place of usage. So that sparked a bit of hope that soon the government might lower our alert level. We have been on Alert Level 3 since the beginning of January. Under Alert Level 3, many restrictions tighten but the most significant of those was we could not begin face to face classes. So with the news of being "moderate risk" came the hope that Alert Level 2 would be coming soon. On Sunday, that news came, Metro Manila and the surrounding provinces would be moved to Level 2. Then today as I was prepping for my next "online" unit, came the email from our Head of School, blended learning will begin next week. So I needed to adjust my teacher preparation plans to include getting ready for blended learning. So many thoughts and feelings have been welling up in me all afternoon and even now as I type this update. I am so excited. Between being on home assignment and Covid restrictions I have not had students in class since May 2019. So I really cannot wait for the Middle Schoolers to come back. But I am also very nervous. This is going to be another big learning curve, coming up with lesson plans that I will be teaching to kids in person while others are online. It is kind of mind-blowing. But my theme verses for 2022 are very helpful right now. Isaiah 43:1-2, "But now, thus says the Lord, your creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you O Israel, "Do not fear for I have redeemed you; when you pass through the waters I will be with you: and through the rivers they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you." I chose these verses to help me remember God's faithfulness in a difficult 2021. And remember how he supported me through those months so that no matter what 2022 would bring I could rest assured that He again would be with me in the rivers and the fires that might come. So as I look at this "mind-blowing" future that is coming soon, I know my God is with me in it and I can trust Him to help me through. Here are some things you can be praying for: 1- For the staff of Faith Academy, we have to completely change how we are teaching this week to something totally different next week. As I said it is kind of mind-blowing. Pray for creativity in planning and patience in the execution of lessons. 2- For our students, they have been online only for almost 2 years. There are many emotions for them as well as they return next week. They may be fearful along with the excitement. Pray for their hearts to know God is near. Pray for the staff as we help them adjust back to the classroom. 3- For the parents, this is going to be a big adjustment for them too. They have them at home for so long. Pray that they will also know how to help their kids adjust to being back in the classroom. 4- Pray that we would stay at an alert level that would allow us to keep the kids in the classroom. We need to stay at least at Level 2. Pray that we don't have to go back an forth between in person and online only. 5- Pray for God's presence to be felt by the Faith Academy community as we walk through this transition of being back to face to face. *Initial Classroom Preparations* Twitter Facebook Website /Copyright © 2022 / *My mailing address is:* MCPO Box 2016 0706 Makati City Philippines.
